RUTH MICALLEF (MBACP ACCRED)

SPECIALISED EATING DISORDER COUNSELLOR
PG Dip (BACP), NutPsych, P Dip, Grad Cert (COSCA), BA Hons

Working within the trauma sector for over a decade, Ruth is a BACP Accredited and five-time Award Winning Counsellor. She has a sub-speciality in Eating Disorders and a specific interest in Schema Therapy.

 

Ruth holds University-taught degrees in Counselling (BACP Post Graduate Diploma with Merit), Counselling Skills with COSCA (Graduate Certificate with Distinction) and Criminology (BA Honours), and has since built on this with significant ISST accredited training in Schema Therapy, and BPS accredited CPD in Positive Psychology, and CFT. She works in alignment with Nutritional Psychiatry (certified by Deakin University), and believes that nutrition is an essential pillar of mental wellness and recovery. Ruth has worked in several settings, including Psychology departments, High Schools, Community Mental Health Projects, and Psychiatric Wards.

Ruth is a media spokesperson for the BACP and can be regularly found as an expert commentator in the press.

 

She was awarded 'Scottish Sole Trader of the Year' by the FBS in 2023. In 2021 Ruth was awarded the titles of 'Young Inspiring Scottish Business Woman of the Year', 'Scottish Sole Trader of the Year' by the ASB, and 'Female Solopreneur of the Year' by the Woman Who Awards.

 

Ruth is a Queer Intersectional Feminist, a mother, and has the lived experience of recovery from Orthorexia Nervosa and Bulimia Nervosa, purging by over-exercise.
